Good thoughts Gerald. We each chafe at being pigeon-holed by other people because it seems to negate the fact that we are able to change and grow. When someone dismisses that ability in us, it makes us feel marginalized. What makes us different than others? It is arrogant to think that we can change, but others must remain in our preconceived definition of who they are.

This is one of those things that I find myself doing without thinking about it. So many times I see someone and in my mind I make a judgement call about them without knowing anything about them.

On the positive side, I have become more and more aware of this tendency and choose to reject the initial thought, although the cloud of that "initial impression" remains.
